1891; d. Hollywood, Calif., March 2, 1950. ASCAP 1924. Educ.: Chi­cago public schools; child prodigy of piano. Made professional debut as concert violinist at nine; became per­former in motion-picture houses. At fifteen became professional pianist and theater manager and conductor in Chicago theaters. Joined profes­sional staff Chicago music publishing house, specializing in arrangements for large orchestras in motion picture houses. Began conducting and ar­ranging m larger New York theaters 1920; general musical director of Keith-Albee-Orpheum, supervision of musical activities of theater circuit 1926. Became general musical direc­tor and radio program director "RKO theater of the Air" 1928. From 1932 active in music department mo­tion picture company as executive.
